Finding my voice has been a journey since I was in high school. During these two years of taking voice lessons and attending University Chorale. I was able to find the height, depth, and scope of my voice.
There were two goals : Project, and be comfortable using my chest voice.
One of songs in my repertoire is named “Climb Every Mountain” from Sound of Music. This song was a breakthrough for me as I experienced in my voice and body that I was projecting in the way that I never thought I could. I was using my chest voice without hurting my vocal cords. Every time I hit those high notes or low notes, I felt like I finally climbed that mountain successfully.
I’m so thankful for my instructor Kurt, who taught me how to project as well as how to find my chest voice. I’m also thankful for the repertoire that he chose for me over the course of these two academic years.
